Sample Answer for Task 1

The diagram illustrates the process of photosynthesis, through which plants produce food.

Plants require four key inputs to create sugars: water absorbed through roots, sunlight converted into energy, carbon dioxide taken in through leaves, and minerals extracted from the soil via roots. These elements combine to enable the plant to produce sugar, which is then converted into starch and stored in the leaves and stem for later use in growth or repair of damaged parts, such as leaves, stems, or roots. A significant byproduct of this process is oxygen, which is released into the atmosphere after carbon dioxide is converted.

In summary, photosynthesis involves four essential inputs—water, sunlight, carbon dioxide, and minerals—resulting in the production of sugar and starch for plant growth and the release of oxygen as a byproduct.

Sample Answer for Task 2

New technologies have transformed how children spend their free time, offering both benefits and drawbacks. I believe the disadvantages outweigh the advantages due to significant health and social impacts.

Technological devices provide diverse entertainment options, such as streaming movies, listening to music, or playing online games, catering to varied preferences. Additionally, certain games, like racing or puzzle games, can develop motor skills, creativity, and quick reflexes, which are valuable for future development. For example, studies suggest that strategic games enhance problem-solving abilities in children.

However, the downsides are more concerning. Excessive use of devices can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, isolating children from social interactions. Many become engrossed in screens, spending hours indoors without engaging with peers or family, which hinders social skills. Moreover, prolonged screen time harms health, particularly eyesight, with rising cases of short-sightedness among school-aged children due to extended gaming or social media use.

In conclusion, while new technologies offer entertainment and skill-building opportunities, their negative effects on children’s health and social development outweigh these benefits.
