Sample Answer for Task 1

The pie chart and bar graph provide information about complaints against the Bank of America, detailing their sources and the average time taken to resolve them.

The pie chart shows that the public is the primary source of complaints, accounting for 63%. The remaining 37% is distributed among government agencies, out-of-state agencies, and insurance companies (each contributing 8–11%), with media and bank employees each responsible for 3%. The bar graph indicates that the average time to resolve complaints is approximately 5 months across most years. However, in 2001, the resolution time peaked at 6 months due to complaints about medical misconduct. A noticeable drop to 5 months occurred in 2002, and subsequent years maintained this average, with a slight decreasing trend over time.

In summary, the public dominates complaint sources, and while resolution times are generally stable at 5 months, there is a gradual decline over the years.

Sample Answer for Task 2

International car-free days are often promoted as a solution to air pollution, but some argue other methods are more effective. This essay discusses both perspectives and offers my view.

Car-free days reduce air pollution by eliminating vehicle exhaust, a major source of pollutants like CO2. Cities like Beijing, known for severe smog, have seen improved air quality during such initiatives, demonstrating their effectiveness in urban areas. By halting car use, these days directly lower emissions, benefiting the environment.

However, alternative approaches may have broader impacts. Promoting public transport, such as buses and subways, reduces emissions per person compared to private cars. Additionally, regulating waste disposal, particularly plastic burning, prevents toxic emissions. Most crucially, transitioning to renewable energy sources like solar or wind power offers a long-term solution to reduce reliance on polluting fossil fuels.

In my opinion, while car-free days are effective, a combination of public transport promotion, waste regulation, and renewable energy adoption is more sustainable. Addressing air pollution requires multiple strategies for lasting impact.
