Sample Answer for Task 1

The line graph illustrates the number of overseas visitors to three regions—coast, mountains, and lakes—in a European country from 1987 to 2007.

Overall, all three regions saw an increase in foreign visitors over the 20-year period, with the lakes experiencing the most significant fluctuations. In 1987, the lakes attracted around 10,000 visitors, rising steadily to 50,000 by 2000 and peaking at 75,000 in 2002, before declining to 50,000 by 2007.

The coast, starting at 40,000 visitors in 1987, saw a slight dip in the early years but rose significantly to 60,000 by 2001 and reached over 70,000 by 2007. The mountains, with 20,000 visitors in 1987, were consistently the least popular, increasing steadily to 30,000 by 2001 and slightly to 35,000 by 2007.

In summary, while all regions grew in popularity, the lakes showed the most dramatic changes, and the coast attracted the most visitors by 2007.

Sample Answer for Task 2

Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter are increasingly replacing face-to-face communication. While these tools offer conveniences, I believe their disadvantages outweigh the advantages due to their impact on social connections and communication skills.

Social media has transformed communication by enabling instant connections across distances. People can message or video call loved ones globally, eliminating the need for physical meetings. In business, platforms like Viber facilitate virtual meetings, saving time and travel costs. These advancements make communication more accessible and efficient.

However, this shift has significant drawbacks. Many, especially younger generations, prioritize online interactions over real-life relationships, leading to social isolation and diminished interpersonal skills. For instance, excessive use of social media can reduce meaningful community engagement. Additionally, frequent use of informal language and emoticons online hampers formal communication skills, particularly among teenagers, affecting their ability to write professionally.

In conclusion, while social media enhances connectivity, its negative effects on social bonds and literacy skills are more significant, making face-to-face interaction irreplaceable.
