Sample Answer for Task 1
The bar chart illustrates the amount of waste disposed of through landfill, burning, and dumping at sea in a European country from 2005 to 2008.
Overall, landfill was initially the dominant waste disposal method, while burning was the least used, but this trend reversed over the four years. In 2005, landfill disposal accounted for 1800 million tonnes, significantly higher than dumping at sea (600 million tonnes) and burning (500 million tonnes). By 2006, landfill waste decreased by 600 million tonnes to 1200, while burning and sea dumping slightly increased by 50–100 million tonnes.
In 2007, landfill and sea dumping fell to around 900 and 600 million tonnes, respectively, while burning rose to 700 million tonnes. By 2008, burning became the preferred method at 900 million tonnes, surpassing landfill (600 million tonnes, a third of its 2005 figure) and sea dumping (approximately 550 million tonnes).

Maintaining physical fitness is a priority for many, yet city dwellers often struggle to exercise regularly. This essay examines the causes of this issue and proposes solutions.
One major cause is the demanding work schedules of urban residents, which leave little time or energy for exercise. Many city workers dedicate long hours to their jobs, prioritizing career over physical activity. Additionally, the sedentary lifestyle prevalent among young people, who spend hours on social media or watching TV, discourages physical exertion, as such activities seem unappealing compared to digital entertainment.
To address this, governments could implement policies to reduce working hours, allowing more time for healthy activities. For example, shorter workdays would enable workers to engage in exercise routines. Furthermore, public awareness campaigns on platforms like Facebook or Twitter could educate residents, particularly youth, about the health risks of inactivity and promote active lifestyles.
In conclusion, while demanding schedules and sedentary habits hinder exercise in cities, reducing work hours and raising awareness can encourage healthier lifestyles.
